Little more work done, started on what might be a doorway at the end, also done some broken tiles. Couldn’t get the broken pieces to look right so I used C4D’s built in physics to literally drop them on the ground and just saved the resulting mess as an object. Also took some lights out, it was too bright. not sure how many will stay or how they will end up, we’ll see.
Another ‘Work in progress’ image of my room, changed the simple tile texture on the left wall for real individual tiles which I think, look far better. I plan on having some broken and-or missing tiles.
Edit:- Had a go at making a broken tile. not really happy with it yet but I’ll work on it. Ignore the texture on it, that was a mistake
Started work on another scene, something totally different from the stargate scene I’m getting bored of.
Here are a couple of images, one with no textures and the other with some simple textures and a floor I quite like. (Took me ages to figure out how to scale the dirt texture on the floor tiles without also scaling the individual tile textures)
Decided to leave the Stargate scene for a while. in the meantime I’ve fitted a new psu (570w) and Graphics card (Radeon 4670 1gb) to my system and oh my C4D loves it. I loaded in my Stargate scene and the editor update was VERY smooth and fast. almost like I had 2 cubes there instead of over 400,000 polys and 462 objects!
Latest ‘Work in Progress’ image for the ‘stargate’ theme on imagine3d.org.
Still a couple of textures to tweak but very little more to add to it. Theres a couple of things I’m not totally happy with but I’m getting a little bored of it now, I’m not sure how much more work will get put into it.
Working on a ‘Stargate’ theme on the Imagine3D forums, this was interesting as I’m not a fan of the tv programme and have barely seen 20 mins of it in total so my scene is 100% dragged out of my imagination and hence inaccurate but still hopefully interesting.
Three images showing my scene starting and growing.
I’m still fiddling with Cinema 4D and learning it, so I decided to remake an old image I did with Imagine. I think it was 1997 when I made this.
Heres my 1997 original
Heres my 2011 Cinema 4D version.
It was fun to make, I should dirty it up a bit, its far too shiny and clean but I still have much to learn from C4D when it comes to texturing and layering procedural textures. I hope to return to this and retexture it but for now, I’m going to work on something completely different.
